· The Assembly of the Slovenian Biochemical Society elected Professor Franc Gubenšek as an honorary member of the Society. Congratulations!
 
· Lapanje prize for young (up to 35 years) members of the Slovenian Biochemical Society for outstanding achievements in biochemical sciences was 
 awarded this year to our colleague Asst. Prof. Uroš Petrovič. Congratulations!
 
· Uroš Logonder successfully defended his PhD thesis entitled »Interaction of the neurotoxic phospholipase A2 with the presynaptic membrane« on August 29th. 
 Congratulations!
 
· Prof. Igor Križaj became a member of The Open Toxinology Journal Editorial Board.

· Mojca Mattiazzi is visiting the laboratory of prof. David Drubin at the Department of Molecular and Cell Biology, University of California, Berkeley, from 
 January 14th to February 1st (http://mcb.berkeley.edu/labs/drubin_barnes/).

· Dr. Petra Prijatelj has been awarded by the two month fellowship from the French government for her research visit at 
  Unité d`Immunologie Structurale, Institute Pasteur, Paris, in 2008. Congratulations!

· With January 1st the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology was split into three new departments.

· Dr. Jernej Šribar has been awarded with the "Nagrada Maksa Samca za najboljši doktorat s področja biokemije" for the best doctoral thesis in the field of
biochemistry of the University FKKT of Ljubljana (6. 12. 2006). Congratulations!
